This privately commissioned piece holds the distinction of being my first painting set in a Swedish landscape. It draws inspiration from two contrasting scenes: a summer retreat in southern Sweden, where majestic trees gracefully arch over a lake, and a quaint stream near my home in Småland, which comes alive in the early winter. "Forest" weaves together these diverse elements, presenting a harmonious blend of two seasons. The painting juxtaposes the stark, cool tones of winter's water and sky against the warm, sunlit foliage of summer. Due to its smaller size, clarity was key in the composition. I achieved this by creating a balance with two contrasting triangles of sky and water, providing a clear and engaging depiction of this enchanting dual-seasonal landscape.
