"The Canyon" is a tribute to a moment of solitude and peace, discovered during an extended hike high in the Spanish mountains. This painting captures the essence of feeling both lost and at peace, portraying a rocky canyon with a striking directional quality. Faithful to the landscape that unfolded before me, only minimal changes were made to the original scene. Under the clear, bright sky, the deep shadows cast by the sun were intensified, with their colors vividly exaggerated, allowing the scene to almost paint itself.
